How do I dispose of refuse?
- Place bagged household waste in the refuse room on your floor or in the designated bins
- Separate recyclables (if applicable) according to signage
- Do not leave refuse in corridors, stairwells, or outside your door
How do I buy electricity?
Your building uses a prepaid metering system integrated with the MeterMate App. This ensures accurate readings, live balance updates, and automatic linkage to your Ithemba unit. External vendors cannot integrate with this system, so off-site purchases will not load units correctly
- Download the MeterMate app
- Sign up and follow the prompts
- For any assistance with your meter please contact MeterMate on 076 312 1982 / helpdesk@metermate.co.za or contact your building manager for support
What happens if I’ve paid for electricity but haven’t received my units?
- First, confirm the payment succeeded in MeterMate app
- If deducted but no token appears:
- Check that your meter number is correct in the app
- Refresh or restart the app to sync
- Contact MeterMate on 076 312 1982 / helpdesk@metermate.co.za or contact your Building Manager for support
How do you know how much water and hot water I’ve used for the month?
Each apartment is fitted with individual cold-water and hot-water meters. These record separate readings which are collected electronically at month-end and reflected on your statement as “Water” and “Electricity – Cost of heating”
Why is the cost of heating water higher than cold water?
Heated water passes through a heating system that consumes electricity, which raises its cost. Your statement shows a separate line item “Electricity – Cost of heating,” meaning tenants share the electrical energy used to heat municipal cold water before it reaches taps.
